Demo App Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

The Retail Geek Loyalty Demo App (“the App”) simulates a branded digital loyalty experience for retailers. It is provided for demonstration purposes only. Users should not enter real personal information. Data entered into the App may be reset or removed at any time as part of demo system maintenance.

2. What Information We Collect

We may collect:

• First name and surname
• Email address and password (processed securely by Firebase)
• Postcode (optional)
• Date of birth (optional: day, month, year)
• Mobile number (optional)
• Contact preferences (email and notification choices)
• Loyalty activity such as stamps, rewards and reward history
• App usage timestamps (createdAt, updatedAt)
• Device information including FCM token for notifications

3. Permissions We Use

• Camera: For scanning QR codes inside the App
• Location (approximate and precise): To show the nearest branch
• Notifications: For optional demo push alerts
• Internet access: To connect to Firebase services

4. How We Use Your Information

• To operate the demo loyalty system
• To manage demo accounts and login
• To track sample stamps and reward activity
• To show nearby branches based on location
• To send notifications (if enabled)
• To improve App performance

5. Data Storage

Your data is stored in Firebase Authentication and Firebase Firestore. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf. Data may be stored outside the UK under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Legal Basis (UK GDPR)

• Consent: For optional settings such as notifications and marketing preferences.
• Contractual necessity: For core App functionality such as account creation.
• Legitimate interests: To operate and maintain the demo environment.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We only share it with:

• Google Firebase (App hosting and authentication)
• Service providers needed to operate the App
• Legal authorities if required by law

8. Data Retention

Because this is a demo App, data may be deleted or reset at any time. You may request deletion by contacting us.

12. Account Deletion

Users of the Retail Geek demo loyalty app can delete their account directly within the app. When an account is deleted, all associated personal data stored in Firebase Authentication and Firestore is permanently erased.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account at any time by using the Delete Account option inside the app:

1. Open the app
2. Go to Menu → Profile → Account Management
3. Select Delete Account
4. Confirm the deletion

What Data Is Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

• Your profile (name, email, postcode, phone, date of birth)
• Your authentication record
• Your stamps, rewards, and loyalty history
• Your notification token (FCM token)
• Your contact preference settings

Data Retained After Deletion

No personal information is retained. Only non-personal, aggregated analytics may remain (for example total number of accounts created). These cannot identify you.

Alternative Deletion Request

If you cannot access the app, you may request deletion by emailing us at app@retailgeek.co.uk. We will complete your request within 30 days.
